This course series teaches you how to use the movement system to assess, diagnose and treat athlete movement dysfunction. This series covers both the upper half and lower half of the body.
The material is highly interactive with an emphasis on the practical application of principles covered in the course. At the conclusion of the course, you will have a greater understanding of how to integrate movement-based assessments into sport-specific treatments.
This course is designed to ensure the participant’s understanding and application of acute management of injury and illness (AMII). It provides the participant with the current, evidence-informed knowledge and skills necessary to respond as an emergency medical responder (EMR) to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize the consequences of sudden injury or illness until resolution, stabilization, and/or more advanced medical personnel arrive on- scene to continue management.
This course is designed to provide practitioners with the didactic and clinical skills necessary to successfully manage individuals with post-concussive symptoms and participate in return to play/learn/work decisions. Particular attention is focused on treatment-based classification of this complex condition. Participants will leave the weekend intensive with a robust understanding of cervical, ocular, vestibular, and exertional assessment and treatment techniques to safely and effectively manage concussions. Furthermore, an emphasis will be placed on identifying and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
In order to become a productive member of a sports medicine team, the sports physical therapist needs to be versed in many facets of athlete care. EIM’s evidence-based Sports Competencies course will cover many of these facets, including: preventive and supportive taping, pre-participation screenings, functional movement screenings including corrective exercise prescription, evaluation, instruction and treatment of athletic movement, late-phase ACL rehabilitation, and injury prevention programs.
The goal of this 4-week online course is to provide a deeper understanding of the unique characteristics and needs of the overhead throwing athlete for integration of these unique features and sports medicine knowledge base resulting in the best, evidence-based management of these athletes. This course will cover the foundational anatomical demands, common adaptations, sports biomechanics, and kinematics for integration of these principles into the evidence-based management of these athletes from injury prevention through return to competition and performance enhancement.
EIM’s Tactical Athlete course improves the understanding of what a tactical athlete is and their similarities and differences to traditional athlete. Participants will gain a better understanding of how those similarities and differences affect the testing, rehabilitation and performance conditioning of these specialized athletes.
The Sports Medicine Certification provides rehabilitation professionals with the basic skills required to triage athletes of all ages on the field, rehabilitate them using evidence-informed practice, and return them to their sport with minimal risk of re-injury. Some topics covered in this curriculum include emergency medical response, science in sports medicine, and sports nutrition. Participants will attend two weekend intensives dedicated to providing the most updated guidelines for evaluating and treating injured athletes.
