Course Description

This self-paced, self-directed course will help to prepare the physical therapy professional for advanced understanding of athletes who are required to use the overhead throwing motion in their sport. • Discuss the anatomical demands and adaptations of the throwing athlete.
  • Evaluate the biomechanics and kinematics of overhead throwing.
  • Describe the epidemiology of injury as it applies to the overhead throwing athlete.
  • Incorporate the clinical guidelines in the examination and differential diagnosis of the overhead throwing athlete.
  • Design effective injury prevention, clinical rehabilitation, progression to return to sport, and performance enhancement programs for the overhead throwing athlete.
