Management of Cervical & Thoracic Disorders

EIM’s Management of Cervical & Thoracic Disorders course is designed to enhance the participant’s knowledge and skill level in the evidence-based management of individuals with cervical-thoracic spine and ribcage disorders and dysfunction. This hybrid course has online pre-course work and then 16 hours in person with a focus on hands on skills and the clinical decision-making around those skills.

Management of Lower Extremity Disorders

This course is designed to enhance the participant’s knowledge and/or skill level in the evidence-based management of individuals with lower extremity disorders and dysfunction. This course is offered in two different formats, with an emphasis on either hands-on skills or didactic knowledge.

Management of Upper Extremity Disorders

This course is designed to enhance the participant’s knowledge and skill level in the evidence-based management of individuals with upper extremity disorders and dysfunction. This course is offered in two different formats, with an emphasis on either hands-on skills or didactic knowledge. You can view more information about each of these formats below.

Management of Lumbopelvic Disorders

Patients with low back and pelvic/hip pain make up nearly 50% of all patients receiving outpatient physical therapy. EIM’s Management of Lumbopelvic Disorders course is designed to enhance the participant’s knowledge and skill level in the evidence-based management of individuals with lumbar spine and pelvic disorders and dysfunction. This hybrid course has online pre-course work and then 16 hours in person with a focus on hands on skills and the clinical decision-making around those skills.

Effortless Spinal Manipulation and Advanced Therapeutics

This course is designed to improve participants’ confidence in performing manual-based interventions and to provide an environment for all participants to receive constructive feedback to ensure their manual skills are at the specialist level. The content of this course will primarily focus on thrust manipulation, mobilization, and manual resisted exercises specific to the spine. Participants will apply best manual interventions while considering the patient’s presentation. Participants learn how to determine the risks and benefits of manual therapy and apply this evidence to clinical practice. The goal of this course is to develop manual therapists who are confident and able to apply effortless manipulation for the patients they serve.

Management of Falls and Balance Disorders in the Older Adult

The goal of this two-day, faculty-led, on-site weekend intensive course is to provide physical and occupational therapists with the skills required to manage balance and falls within the older adult population across a variety of settings and populations using a case-based learning method. This course will include an over of the aging balance system, proper evaluation of balance/falls conditions, appropriate dosing of therapy interventions, discharge planning, and provide a framework for evidence-informed management for these conditions to optimize outcomes for management of the older adult patient. Learners will be able to synthesize recent research into their current practice habits and elevate their clinical management of the balance and falls population. 

Advanced Hands-on Treatment of the Shoulder and Elbow

The goal of this course is to develop and demonstrate advanced hands-on techniques for assessment and treatment of the shoulder and elbow including manual techniques and orthotic fabrication and be able to apply this information immediately into practice.

Certifications

Manual Physical Therapy Certification

Patient outcomes are determined by the manual handling skills that you implement. EIM’s Manual Physical Therapy Certification provides post-professional training for physical therapists and is designed to advance the physical therapist as a provider of patient care with advanced clinical competency. Courses are taught by world-class faculty from a variety of the best academic programs and clinical practices in the country.

Post-professional DPT in Musculoskeletal Management

The EIM Post-Professional DPT program is a transitional DPT program committed to developing evidence-informed physical therapists who are prepared to function as autonomous practitioners for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. This 18-month program of clinically oriented education is designed to bridge one’s foundational education to the DPT level. Each student is challenged to improve their clinical knowledge and enhance their personal practice with coursework grounded in evidenced-informed and patient-centered clinical decision-making and reasoning. Students develop a skill set that will foster lifelong learning, professional growth, and clinical development. They will be exposed to passionate faculty that embody clinical relevance, evidence-informed practice, and patient-centered decision-making.

Orthopaedic Certification

This interdisciplinary program includes four weekend lab courses aimed at each body region (lumbopelvic, lower extremity, cervical thoracic, and upper extremity) and a therapeutic neuroscience education online course. You will learn psychomotor and clinical reasoning skills for orthopaedics and then tie it together with best practices for the integration of pain science.

Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency

EIM’s Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program provides post-professional clinical and didactic education to meet your current life and work circumstances. Through ongoing clinical supervision and mentoring, with a theoretical basis for advanced practice and scientific inquiry, you will improve your clinical practice and decision-making. EIM’s Orthopaedic Residency stresses the acquisition of current best-evidence as well as leading-edge psychomotor skills to make you a specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy.
