Inside Leadership Podcast: How We View and Lead Our Workforce | Daphne Scott

June 27, 2017 • Practice Leadership • Daphne Scott

Today, on the Inside Leadership Podcast, Daphne discusses Douglas McGregor’s idea of Theory X and Theory Y and how it applies how we, as leaders, view our workforce.

This idea of viewing our workforce comes in the form of belief and “self-fulfilling prophecy.”

There’s even a powerful study on people regarding stress. Those that had high levels of stress were broken up into two categories: those who believed their high levels of stress would harm their health, and those who believed their high levels of stress were NOT harmful to their health. The group with the high levels of stress who believed it was not harmful had lower risk of death than the other group, AND, even those who had lower levels of stress. Again, it’s about belief and that “self-fulfilling prophecy.”

This rolls nicely into the idea of our belief with our employees and work environments and how we can empower our workforce to be the best they can be.

Where do you land on Theory X, Theory Y, and Theory Z?
