The International Headache Society lists more than 250 different types of headaches. Really? Can we make this any more complicated for patients and providers? In reality, there are only three main headache subgroups – tension-type, cervicogenic and migraine. Each of these subgroups have different underlying mechanisms, which in turn should drive test and treatments used in clinical practice.
