This course is an 8-week online faculty led course with an emphasis on the conservative management of those presenting with cervical and thoracic pain and related impairments, functional limitations, and activity participant restrictions. The content is focused upon increasing one’s clinical reasoning and decision-making processes necessary to enhance quality of care and provide evidence-informed and person-centered management.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the successful learner will be able to complete a differential diagnosis examination of people with cervical and thoracic pain and create a plan of care which aligns with the defined subgroup using person-centered care and shared decision making.

By the end of this course, a successful participant will be able to:

  • Understand the societal, healthcare, and personal impact of cervical and thoracic pain and examine the physical therapist’s role in mitigating this.
  • Implement a systematic person-centered evaluation using strong clinical reasoning.
  • Create a plan of care using best practices and shared decision making with the patient.
  • Analyze evidence-based interventions that match the needs of the person.
