This self-directed course updates participants on the latest evidence and clinical applications of neurodynamics, with a focus on improving patient-centered functional outcomes. Neurodynamics describes the ability of the nervous system to move, slide, and adapt to support normal movement and function. Moving beyond traditional joint- and muscle-focused models, this course highlights the role of neurodynamics in restoring movement and reducing pain through a neurobiological and neurophysiological understanding of pain. Participants will explore current research on neurodynamic testing for assessment and treatment across a range of orthopedic conditions, including low back pain, radiculopathy, plantar fasciitis, neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and more. The course includes systematic instruction in neurodynamic testing, clinical reasoning, and both passive and active treatment strategies, along with home exercise programming and neuroscience education. Emphasis is placed on applying these skills to improve meaningful, functional outcomes for patients in pain.
By the end of the course, a successful learner will be able to:
- Employ a clinical working knowledge of the latest science associated with peripheral neuropathic pain.
- Utilize neuroscience education to explain peripheral neuropathic pain to a patient.
- Determine appropriate treatments based on pain mechanisms dominant as nociceptive, peripheral neurogenic, or central sensitization.
- Outline the current best evidence for neurodynamic techniques as tests and treatments.
- Apply neurodynamics into the broader picture of pain science. 6. Describe how neurodynamic treatment can impact and support overarching functional goals
