This course is designed to enhance the participant’s understanding of key principles in conducting a synchronous telehealth session. Participants will be able to apply the four habits model in the telehealth setting, highlighting the importance of the therapeutic alliance. Participants will learn how to utilize and adopt clinical reasoning skills for an effective subjective and objective examination in a unique virtual environment. Further, participants will investigate the utilization of telehealth to enhance access and care delivery in an evidence-informed manner.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, a successful learner will be able to:

  • Describe the strengths and limitations of the digital delivery of healthcare.
  • Identify rules and regulations applicable to care delivered virtually.
  • Recognize technological considerations relating to synchronous telehealth delivery.
  • Conduct a history and physical examination using appropriate tests and measures within a synchronous telehealth environment.
  • Recognize methods of adapting intervention delivery to a synchronous telehealth setting.
  • Assemble and adapt best practice intervention strategies to a telehealth synchronous setting including subsequent management and best care pathways.
