––– Prerequisite
Functional Dry Needling® Level 1
For: PT, PHYSIO, MD, DC, DO, RN, NP, PA, ATC, OT

This course is part of EIM’s Dry Needling Plus (DN+) Series

DN+ is an educational series powered by Evidence in Motion specifically for clinicians already trained in dry needling. The content is not intended as education on basic dry needling techniques, but specific clinical applications for those who have already completed their introductory dry needling competency training. The courses look to answer the expert-level questions regarding clinical application for dry needling in the context of specific patient populations, various diagnoses, and advanced methodological application.

This DN+ Clinical IQ course will take the learner into the world of Functional Dry Needling (FDN). It introduces concepts such as the use of tissue tension, neural provocation, joint distraction or compression and functional loading with FDN to enhance outcomes.

Course Objectives

  • Apply the joint-by-joint assessment approach and principles of regional interdependence to identify the underlying “why” driving a patient’s presenting musculoskeletal symptoms, and integrate this reasoning into dry needling treatment planning.
  • Analyze and design stabilization exercises informed by osteo- and arthrokinematics, synovial fluid function, and neuromuscular activation to enhance joint health and functional control in clinical practice.
  • Integrate functional anatomy principles and dynamic dry needling techniques to assess and treat joint dysfunctions and neural entrapments using the Reset, Reinforce, and Reload model.
  • Evaluate patient-specific outcomes by combining dry needling with functional loading strategies, ensuring interventions align with evidence-based practice and BOC standards.
