Bone stress injuries are common among many sports that children are involved in. Recognizing this type of injury is important for the physical therapist because the management typically sidelines the athlete from participation. Moreover, as primary care providers of musculoskeletal dysfunction, PTs may be able to recognize early signs and symptoms and prevent the stress injury from progressing to a fracture. Understanding prevention strategies is also essential.
