Derek Clewley, PT, DPT, PhD, OCS, FAAOMPT is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Physical Therapy at Duke University School of Medicine, where he serves as the Associate Director of the Duke University Center of Excellence in Manual and Manipulative Therapy. He is a board-certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Dr. Clewley’s clinical, educational, and research interests include musculoskeletal pain management, orthopaedic manual physical therapy, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice. He has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed to multiple clinical practice guidelines and systematic reviews focused on musculoskeletal health.
A passionate educator and mentor, Dr. Clewley has held numerous leadership positions within AAOMPT and APTA and is dedicated to advancing residency education, professional development, and the integration of evidence into clinical practice. He enjoys helping clinicians develop the skills necessary to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while fostering a commitment to lifelong learning.
