In this course, the learner will be introduced to the history and mechanisms of manual therapy as well as the justification for manual therapy as a treatment intervention. The historical perspective will help frame the current use of manual therapy and its widespread use in multiple fields. The mechanisms of manual therapy module will outline the modern understanding of how and why manual therapy can be beneficial for patients. In the third module, there is a brief overview of the current research of the benefits of manual therapy. 

By the end of the course, a successful learner will be able to:

  • Participants will develop a greater understanding of the historical perspective of manual therapy.   
  • Participants will identify known mechanisms of manual therapy.  
  • Participants will highlight the evidence for incorporation of manual therapy into treatment.
