The goal of this 8-week instructor-led course is to thoroughly understand the upper quarter as it relates to the evaluation and treatment of a variety of common diagnoses seen in hand therapy. 

By the end of the course, a successful learner will be able to:

  • Locate and demonstrate appropriate upper quarter anatomy and kinesiology.
  • Gain appropriate history and subjective information as it relates to upper quarter diagnoses.
  • Select and perform appropriate special tests to evaluate the upper quarter.
  • Discuss evidence-based treatments for conservative management of a variety of upper quarter diagnoses.
  • Articulate the precautions and evidence-based care of post-operative treatment of the upper quarter.
  • Identify appropriate orthotics and immobilization needs related to upper quarter diagnoses.
  • Identify and address functional limitations related to occupational performance, focusing on ADL and IADL tasks.
