Promoting positive health behaviors in coping strategies are important elements of lifestyle medicine and integrative behavioral health. Some coping options are risky and significantly detrimental to health. Assisting clients to both understand and overcome the use of risky substances is the focus in this course. This is a vast and complex topic, and this will serve as an introduction and starting point to integrate into a practice of lifestyle medicine and integrative behavioral health. Topics included: tobacco, opioids, CBD, medical marijuana, alcohol, nutrition, and exercise. A healthy approach to exercise and cognitive behavior therapy will be presented as alternatives to maladaptive coping strategies.
