The goal of this course is to develop and demonstrate advanced hands-on techniques for assessment and treatment of the shoulder and elbow including manual techniques and orthotic fabrication and be able to apply this information immediately into practice.
By the end of the course, a successful learner will be able to:
• Perform a comprehensive shoulder evaluation to determine cause of dysfunction and the functional ramifications in daily routines.
• Perform a comprehensive elbow evaluation to determine cause of dysfunction and the ramifications in daily routines.
• Perform appropriate manual assessment and special testing to thoroughly evaluate the shoulder and elbow.
• Demonstrate advanced manual treatment techniques for a variety of shoulder and elbow diagnoses.
• Integrate advanced clinical reasoning, clinical judgement, and effective problem-solving techniques when caring for a client with a shoulder or elbow diagnosis to promote independence in daily occupations.
• Perform advanced orthotic fabrication techniques, including static, static-progressive, and dynamic concepts, as it relates to a variety of shoulder and elbow diagnoses.
