Pain Science
Early in my career, my focus was on improving my skills to help as many patients as possible. Then, I began to realize how many more I could impact indirectly by teaching other physical therapists.
Steve has been a physical therapist since 1994 and brings extensive clinical and academic expertise to the field of rehabilitation. He currently serves as the Physical Therapy Supervisor at the Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center and is the co-lead of the Spinal Cord Injury Specialty Program. In addition, he is a faculty member for the Kaiser Vallejo Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) Program and serves as senior faculty for Evidence in Motion’s (EIM) pain science curriculum.
Steve has co-authored several books on pain neuroscience education and has taught nationally and internationally on topics including neurodynamics, graded motor imagery, and pain neuroscience. He is currently a PhD candidate in the Health Sciences program at the University of South Dakota. His research focuses on assessment strategies, therapeutic interventions, and pain neuroscience education for individuals with spinal cord injury.
