Dr. Matthew Hernandez

Dr. Matthew Hernandez is a board-certified Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS) and Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. He serves as a Regional Director and Clinic Director with Texas Physical Therapy Specialists in San Antonio, Texas, where he combines clinical practice with leadership, mentorship, and clinician development.

Dr. Hernandez has a passion for evidence-based practice, clinical reasoning, and helping clinicians bridge the gap between research and patient care. He serves as faculty for a sports physical therapy residency program, mentoring developing clinicians and teaching advanced concepts in orthopedic evaluation, rehabilitation, and return-to-sport decision making.

He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and has presented continuing education content for physical therapists. His professional interests include sports rehabilitation, ACL rehabilitation, return-to-sport testing, and developing clinicians who deliver high-quality, evidence-informed care.
