Dr. Kristal Nelson has over 26 years of experience in sports physical therapy. She currently travels as a private physical therapist to an ATP professional tennis player (2019) and consults with the North Carolina State University Men’s Tennis team (2022). She received her Master of Physical Therapy from University of NC – Chapel Hill (1998). She was in the inaugural class of EIM sports residency program and attained her doctorate (2010-2013) and her board certification in sports physical therapy (2013). Prior to physical therapy, she worked as a certified massage therapist.
In 2001, Kristal founded Back in Action PT, an outpatient clinic located inside of large fitness center which grew to three locations and sold the multi-million-dollar company in 2022. During this time, Kristal served on high school sports medicine team directly involved with football and soccer as well as co-developed/facilitated the MSK portion of the annual PPE program serving multiple high schools.
Outside of her professional time, she enjoys playing USTA competitive tennis, stained glass, spending time at the beach, traveling and hiking with her husband Jeff, and spending time with her two entrepreneurial sons.
