DN+ Clinical IQ: Dry Needling for the Hamstring

Functional Dry Needling® Level 1
For: PT, PHYSIO, MD, DC, DO, RN, NP, PA, ATC, OT, Other licensed healthcare providers
This course explores the anatomy, assessment, and management of hamstring and related posterior thigh conditions with an emphasis on dry needling. Participants will examine common hamstring injuries and related conditions, clinical examination strategies, muscle selection, and complementary rehabilitation interventions. The course also reviews current research on dry needling for hamstring flexibility, muscle performance, strains, and tendinopathy to support evidence-informed clinical decision-making.
By the end of the course, a successful learner will be able to:
- Describe the prevalence, risk factors, anatomy, and functional considerations associated with hamstring injuries.
- Identify key subjective and objective examination findings for hamstring injuries and related conditions.
- Select appropriate muscles and dry needling strategies based on the patient’s diagnosis and impairments.
- Integrate appropriate follow-up and adjunct rehabilitation interventions with dry needling.
- Evaluate current research regarding the safety, techniques, and outcomes of dry needling for hamstring and related conditions.
