This course is available as a standalone CE course or as an elective for our new Advanced Practice Certification.

This course dives into deeper concepts of advanced splinting techniques. Concepts include mobilization orthoses, orthoses for special populations, lower extremity orthoses, casting, and upper extremity prosthetics.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the successful learner will be able to:

  • Apply advanced orthotic, casting, and prosthetic concepts and principles based upon the intended action of the orthotic.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of principles and characteristics of a variety of orthotic, casting, and prosthetic material in order to select appropriate materials for a variety of conditions.
  • Explain appropriate use of static, static-progressive, and dynamic orthotics based on client needs.
  • Assess appropriate principles of orthotics, casting, and prosthetics as it relates to creation and utilization of upper quarter pathologies.
