Bio
Sara Owens, PTA, graduated from Illinois Central College in 2010. Her clinical experience spans outpatient orthopedics, acute care, and inpatient rehabilitation. She currently serves as the manager of a private practice outpatient physical therapy clinic while maintaining a full-time patient caseload. In 2025, she was recognized as an Advanced Senior Clinician for her clinical excellence, leadership, mentorship, and contributions to continuing education.
Since joining Evidence In Motion (EIM) in 2018 as a Teaching Assistant for the PTA Specialty Certification in Orthopaedics, Sara has advanced to serve as the Program Director for the certification program, where she develops educational content, mentors faculty and learners, and supports the advancement of post-professional PTA education.
Sara is actively involved in the Illinois Physical Therapy Association, having served in numerous elected and appointed leadership positions at both the Western District and Chapter levels. In 2024, she earned the APTA Recognition of Advanced Proficiency in Orthopedics, recognizing advanced clinical knowledge and skills in orthopedic physical therapy. At a National level, Sara has participated in the APTA’s House of Delegates as a voting delegate representing Illinois.
