Robert Butler just finished his eighth season in Major League Baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals. As the Director of Performance, Dr. Butler oversaw player physical development and prevention programs, nutrition, sports science, technology integration and mental health services for the St. Louis Cardinals organization as well as the medical care for the affiliate teams.
He is a native of Wilmington, Delaware and a graduate of Marietta College where he earned his Bachelor’s in Biology, Springfield College where he earned his M.S. in Biomechanics and Movement Science, and the University of Delaware where he earned his Ph.D. in Biomechanics. Following his doctoral training, he completed a post-doc at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and also completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Evansville.
Butler and his wife, Sarah, daughters, Madeline and Emelia, son, Greyson, and dogs, Blue and Maple, reside in Hillsborough, NC.
