Dr. Whitman graduated from the US Air Force Academy, received her master’s in physical therapy from the US Army-Baylor Graduate Program in PT program in 1994, and completed her Doctor of Science in PT from Baylor University in 2001. Since then, Julie has published 40+ peer-reviewed manuscripts, and over 30 published abstracts in the areas of orthopaedics and manual physical therapy and presented research both nationally and internationally at professional conferences. She was the recipient of the AAOMPT’s Kaltenborn “Teach I Must” Award, the JOSPT George J. Davies – James A. Gould Excellence in Clinical Inquiry Award, AAOMPT Outstanding Research Award, and Steven J. Rose Excellence in Research Award. In 2008, Julie started what is now known as the Bellin College Orthopaedic and Manual Physical Therapy Program with Evidence in Motion. She led the program for over 10 years, with over 100 graduates during this time. Julie then led the creation and accreditation process for the Doctor of Science program at Bellin College where fellowship graduates can continue their education towards a terminal doctoral degree. Julie stayed in this role until early 2019 before transitioning to being a full-time homeschool teacher. She now engages in professional roles (teaching and treating patients) as she is able while balancing other personal roles.
