This 2-week course is a tour of the educational background, professional responsibilities, recommended characteristics, scopes of practice including licensure practices/regulations of common members of the sports medicine team. These members include but are not limited to the team physician, certified athletic trainer, sports physical therapist, sports nutritionist, strength & conditioning coach, and the sports psychologist. The learning activities are designed to allow reflective assessment that facilitates your future as a Sports Physical Therapist in your local community, state, and professional organization. This course is designed to allow you to explore the general background of each of the Sports Medicine team members and apply this knowledge to your own local area and state practice act. It guides your investigation into your state license, practice act, legislation that will define your scope of practice and guide the application of this knowledge into common Sports PT ethical dilemmas where you currently live and practice. It will also facilitate your look into the future: continued professional development, outcomes, attainment and maintenance of board certification, and lifelong learning.

Upon completion of this course a successful learner will be able to fully understand their role as a productive member of the sports medicine team as a sports physical therapist in the local community in which you practice.
