Case Report: Physician-Delivered Pain Neuroscience Education for Opioid Tapering

The EIM pain science team has published a case study in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health that contains two firsts:

  • Pain neuroscience education (PNE) delivered by a physician (internal medicine)
  • PNE delivery was tied to a reduction in opioid use

The team has tried various avenues for opioid-reduction studies, but it’s a complicated undertaking and numerous factors are involved. This case study is a step in the right direction.
