Bio

Dr Sydney Schoensee has practiced physical therapy for 38 years and brings a wealth of professional and personal experience to her clients.  Her passion to this day remains in patient care!  She believes in addressing the whole person, encompassing their beliefs, perspectives, and thoughts in a patient-centered care approach.  She embraces shared decision making along the journey to wellness.  She believes in educating and empowering her patients to take an active approach to recovery.

She utilizes evidenced informed treatment to provide the most effective and efficient care but is always willing to step out of the box for those patients who may present uniquely.

Tools utilized but not limited include all types of manual therapy, education, sensory motor training, therapeutic exercise and blood flow restriction therapy

Experience, Education and Publications

She graduated with her Physical Therapy degree(s)from after attending the University of Wisconsin – Madison and University of Alabama- Birmingham.  She was raised in San Luis Obispo and graduated from SLO High School. Spending most of her early career on the Central Coast before venturing with family to Idaho until returning to SLO in 2024.

Originally a SLO native, she went on to receive her initial PT degree from University of Wisconsin, Madison. She received advanced physical therapy degrees from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and Evidence in Motion.   She completed a Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual therapy a distinction that approximately 3% of therapists hold nationwide.     She has presented numerous of continued education courses and has served as faculty for various orthopedic and sports residency programs.  She continues to mentor advanced physical therapy students on their journey to clinical excellence.

Her orthopedic background was spurred by a low back injury sustained in gymnastics,  Her sports background includes working with all types of athletes throughout the age span, youth to adult, recreational to professional.
