I teach because it is fun and invigorating. It forces me to continue to engage with the latest literature as well as scrutinize my own practice."

Bio

Dr. Andrew Zang graduated from the University of Pittsburgh’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2008. While at the University of Pittsburgh, Andrew received extensive orthopedic and manual physical therapy training. Since then Andrew completed a year-long training (2012-2013) with Evidence in Motion to achieve his Certification in Manual Therapy. He then became Board Certified in Orthopedics by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (2014). From there, Andrew entered and completed a Fellowship program in Orthopedic Manual Therapy with Evidence in Motion (2014-2016). Fellowship is the highest level of education able to be attained in our profession, which entails 2-3 years of training focused on evidenced based clinical knowledge and reasoning coupled with hands on mentoring/skill training with other fellows. This something only about 1-2% of physical therapists complete during their career.

Andrew’s primary area of interest is in helping patients recover lost function and remain active in their life. The goal is to help patients to do this without taking medications, having to visit their doctor routinely or contemplate surgical intervention. He greatly enjoys treating patients with low back and neck pain as it presents an intellectual challenge/puzzle to solve.

As a clinician, Andrew has completed continuing education courses on various orthopedic topics including: ACL injury prevention and rehab, optimizing performance of baseball players, running injury rehabilitation, and the integration of functional orthotics to complement physical therapy treatment.

Andrew serves as an adjunct instructor for South College and Baylor DPT programs. He has also served as an instructor for Evidence in Motion’s online programing for physical therapists seeking to further their clinical knowledge.

When not treating patients, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife, Allison, and daughter, Alivia. Together they all enjoy running and working out along with hiking and traveling.
