March Madness Filings for #Physicaltherapy

Lots of miscellaneous activities in the PT world that I need to file in my Evernote with appropriate tags:

#revisionisthistory  Several years ago, a chief nurse told me that all ancillary services including physical, occupational therapy, respiratory, speech therapy as well as dietetics are all offshoots of nursing and that a well trained nurse fulfills all of those roles adequately.  When I asked her for historical references, she said they were in all of the nursing history books.  After listening to this California orthopedists testimony, I am to believe that physical therapy was invented by them! Can we likewise erase the visions of the outfits of reconstruction aides from our history as well?

#legalcase  While we have OIG reports and many other publications documenting the abuse and overtutilization in self-referral situations, this gem at the 8:30 mark by the now infamous Dr. Bert including  “60% of the PT’s in S Carolina being put out of business” might just be our best exhibit on restraint of trade imposed by POPTS.

#nonduesrevenue  I received a lot of emails about my fraud post and in particular the suggestion of an impostor category for non-dues revenue for our national association-most of them supportive.  One intriguing thought was that this new category might just compel a move by many from active, full-time into impostors if the dues was lower thus increasing non dues but decreasing total number of members.  Good point.

#Nostradamus  Yesterday, I received 11 forwarded emails with the subject line “The Demise of Private Practice Has Begun”.  Since it was the biweekly recurrent scare tactics we have become accustomed to receiving by  MD/PT Partners, my immediate thought was to see if I could wrap digital fish in electronic mail.  Isn’t this what they do in the Farmville?
