Wii Are Completely Losing it

March 11, 2008 • Health Care News • Larry Benz

According to this Jacksonsun.com article in yet another over represented story about Wiihabiliation, has 2 quotes that are representative of our entire profession. Both are from a facility by the name of Sports Plus Central.

PT Quote 1 :

“playing Wii is an engaging activity, but it doesn’t compare to exercises like running or walking. He’s played Wii games with his children”  “It gets you up on your feet, simulating certain activities, whether it’s bowling or boxing,” he said. Physical therapists around the country are looking at the Wii as a method of improving one’s rehabilitation..”

Quote 2 from a different PT:

Wii is the future of physical therapy. His facility plans to get a Wii for their patients, he said. “I think every clinic will have one soon,”  “And they’ll call it “wiihabilitation.”

Herein lies the provervial variability problem.  Which PT do you think practices with the best current evidence?
