What do Patients want from their Physical Therapist?

March 11, 2008 • Health Care News • Larry Benz

Almost 1200 patients surveyed in the UK about what patients want from their physician.

Patients place the highest value on thoroughness followed by:

  • Seeing a doctor who knows them well
  • Seeing a doctor with a warm and friendly manner
  • Having a shorter waiting time for an appointment
  • Having flexibility in selecting appointment times

Interesting.  In a country where they don’t routinely pay for health care, patients were willing to pay the most for a thorough physical exam.

What do they want from their physical therapist?  Are we the “thorough physical exam” counterpart in the US where it has been shown that the “face” time with doctors is at an all time low?

Thoughts?
