FTC Confirms that testimonials are not science

In what may be deemed the quote of the year, the FTC Chairman Ms. Deborah Platt Majoras has levied $25 million in fines to 4 different companies all touting major claims on weight loss.  The products will remain on shelves.

Could some of the PT huckster’s be next?  Don’t be too surprised as the FTC has already successfully fined teeth whiteners, a social networking site, and DirecTV (for violating do not call rules).

By the way, in case you think the government doesn’t have a keen sense of humor, go to Glucobate the FTC’s teaser site where you can purchase an easy cure for diabetes.  This site actually resembles a few PT equipment and training sites out there.
