Clinical Podcast: HRV to Balance the Nervous System with Dr. Amy Lichon

November 8, 2017 • Clinical Management

Today, on the EIM Clinical Podcast, Dr. Jeff Moore and Dr. John Childs are joined by Dr. Amy Lichon who is an anesthesiologist in Fort Collins, Colorado. Amy has a particular interest in endurance sports and, particularly, using heart rate variability (HRV) as a way to assess a balance between the sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous system.

Today, John, Jeff, and Amy discuss the potential application of HRV in clinical practice and managing patients with chronic pain. They also share some new tools and apps as well as helpful information to use in treating patients.

Love it that conversation is emerging through EIM. I've been moving more an more into using HRV as well as ETCO2 in the TAI BreathWorks program. Although this program was developed for those with chronic pain, we see a larger application for athletes, and those with recurrent injuries. This kind of work has the potential to more than just improve performance in sport. It has potential to help us help people be happy. And in the end, isn't this really all each of us wants? Thanks guys!!
