Accommodation Procedures for Participants with Disabilities

Within this page, the term EIM refers to all education companies owned by Evidence In Motion.

EIM will accommodate any reasonable request to assist our participants with disabilities in being able to safely participate in any of our courses. To successfully complete any of EIM’s post-professional coursework, a large variety of cognitive, affective and psychomotor abilities and skills are required. If a student is unable to safely meet the post-professional curricula requirements, it is the responsibility of the student to request an appropriate accommodation through the EIM Administration Office.

Because of the online nature of our web-based coursework, the student “classroom” is their home or natural environment. It is incumbent on the learner to make the necessary accommodations to allow for maximum performance in the online classroom. Computer recommendations and requirements are outlined below. The online classroom for CE participants consists of primarily asynchronous learning activities, which allows a great deal of flexibility for the participant. Synchronous sessions may be included as part of the preferred learning environment to meet course objectives and will be outlined in the course syllabus. Students are encouraged and reminded to work directly with their online faculty for specific needs in the course such as preferred communication methods (email, new forums, discussion boards, etc), extended time needed for assignments and extended time needed for online quizzes/testing.

EIM onsite live courses are conducted in a variety of facilities (clinics, hotels, etc.) that must meet ADA regulations. Onsite faculty will work with the host location to ensure accessibility of facility and areas where the training will occur. The faculty and learner will work together to develop technique modifications that enable the learner to function within the constraints of their disability. Course lab manuals are printed and issued for onsite courses. Electronic copies are available upon request for individual printing by the student as needed to accommodate their learning preferences. Requests may be sent to [email protected].

EIM further defines a qualified individual as one who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity, with record of such impairment and is regarded as having such impairment. EIM recognizes this disability may be temporary or permanent. It is the student’s responsibility to self-disclose any disability and request accommodation. EIM requires the student to provide supporting documentation verifying the existence of the disability and subsequent need for accommodation.

It is incumbent on the learner to make the necessary accommodations to allow for maximum performance in the online classroom. Staying current with technology is imperative to ensure success in the online learning environment. Students will need access to the technology and use of the hardware and software listed below as well as the skillset to use them appropriately.

Students participating in online coursework will need daily access to a computer with a high speed internet connection.

  • The use of satellite and cellular connections may result in slowness or errors (timeouts, access problems) when accessing the classroom and course materials.
